How To A Make Rapunzel Braided Party Banner
Rapunzel is famous for her long, long golden locks and the gorgeous braids that they are woven into. So, it seems only fitting to properly represent this iconic hairdo in your next Tangled themed party. With just a few materials, you can create a stunning decoration piece that you wont need to brush, and brush….and brush… Let’s get started on this easy to make Rapunzel Braided Party Banner!
Quick Tip: This craft can get a bit messy with the yarn, so you might want to do this outdoors.
Materials
- Sandy Yellow yarn
- Shiny yarn
- Scissors
- Floral Decorations
- Hot Glue
Step 1:
Find your desired length. Remember, when you braid the yarn, it will get shorter, so it’s better to overestimate the length a little.
Step 2:
Find your desired thickness. Once you know how long you want your braid to be, loop the yarn over itself until you have achieved your desired thickness. The thicker the yarn, the less you will need for this. However, with thinner yarn, the braid will look more hair-like. The style is completely up to you and what you have available.
Step 3:
Cut 3 stacks of yarn at your desired length and thickness. Depending on how long you want to make your braid, you might need several bundles of yarn.
Step 4:
If you want to have mini braids within the big braid, take some strands from your stacks, or cut new strands from your remaining yarn, and create these smaller braids first. Cut the strands of shiny yarn to be the same length as your 3 stacks as well.
Step 5:
You are ready to begin the braid. Tie all stacks of yarn, including the mini braids and the shiny yarn, together at the top. You can tie knots at the ends of the three stacks individually first in order to keep them separated when they are all tied together. Then, begin braiding!
Tips:
It helps to weigh down the end of the braid with something heavy to avoid an overly loose braid.
Make sure your mini braids and shiny pieces of yarn are visible when you are braiding so that they are not lost in the middle of the big braid. You want to see all of the little details!
Step 6:
Tie off the braid once you reach the end with a spare piece of yarn. You may notice that your mini braids are shorter than the rest of the strands. That’s ok! It makes for varied lengths of hair left at the end after the tie off. If you want to avoid this, you can make your mini braid yarn pieces longer before you braid them so that they match the length of the rest of the braid. It’s completely up to you!
Step 7:
Feel free to adjust the details of the braid to your liking, and use hot glue to glue down any stray pieces along the way. You can choose to cut off the strands from the tie off at the top of the braid or simply glue the ends into the braid.
Step 8:
Now it’s time to decorate! Glue any flowers, leaves, jewels, or any other details you’d like to include in your braid. There’s so much freedom here to decorate however you want.
Congratulations! You are all done with your Rapunzel Braided Party Banner! Hang this around the house to make it look like Rapunzel is right around the corner with her long hair draping overhead.
