Big Bang Theory inspired Rubik's Cube

Amongst the many geeky décor pieces on the set of The Big Bang Theory is Leonard and Sheldon’s adorable Rubik’s Cube tissue box. Make your own for display at any event as a subtle reference to the quirky, beloved show. Here’s my step-by-step guide to making your very own Big Bang Theory inspired Rubik’s Cube tissue box!

Materials

  • Cardstock or construction paper in black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white
  • Scissors/paper cutter
  • Glue stick
  • Tape
  • Tissue Box

Step 1

Cut 4 pieces of black cardstock or construction paper into 6 “ x 4.75 “ pieces for a 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2 ” x 5 1/4″ tissue box. Adjust the size to fit your tissue box.

Step 2

Cut out 6 1.25 “ x 1.25 “ squares of each of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white sheets of construction paper or cardstock. Use a paper cutter for quicker cuts and straight edges. Then, use a pair of scissors to round the corners of the squares.

Step 3

Arrange the colored squares in a 3×3 grid pattern on each of the 4 pieces of black paper, leaving extra space at the top of the paper to wrap over the top of the tissue box. When you’re happy with your color arrangements and spacing, glue the squares down.

Step 4

Tape 2 of the sides together along their longer sides from the back to keep the tape hidden. You may need to add some glue to keep the edges flat on the front side when you bend them into a cube shape.

Step 5

Fold the corners, one over the other to create crisp edges at all corners.
